An electronic book. Also called e-book or digital book. A text-based publication in digital form readable on computers or other digital devices. Ebooks are usually read on dedicated hardware devices known as e-readers or e-book devices. Personal computers and some cell phones can also be used to read e-books. Examples of e-readers are the Amazon Kindle and the Barnes & Noble Nook.

Two of the most popular ebook file formats are EPUB, viewable on most reader devices, and MOBI, viewable on the Kindle. Stories published in these two formats will be readable on any modern ebook reader device.
