Destroyed is a term denoting vessels that have been destroyed, either in combat with an enemy force or by other causes, and are no longer in service with their prospective navies.
A ship may also be scuttled to prevent the vessel itself, or vital technologies on board from falling into enemy hands, if it is too badly damaged to be salvaged and returned to active duty.(Star Trek: New Order: Deus Ex Machina)
