Vorta "representative" Dasreen immediately earned the scorn of the Cardassians whose ship he was sent in 2374 to oversee, when he went out of his way to insult and belittle the ship's commander--a mistake that proved damning for him in the end. (Star Trek: Sigils and Unions)

Dasreen was a particularly supercilious Vorta who viewed himself as Gul Berat's superior--not just because he viewed the Cardassians as a subordinate race, but because of Berat's physical disability, claiming any Vorta or Jem'Hadar would be too ashamed to live with such a condition. This led him to dismiss Berat as insignificant...a move that not only incensed the crew of the Sherouk, but made the gul all the more determined to teach him a lesson on the consequences of his arrogance.

In 2375 Gul Berat successfully goaded Dasreen into going onto the rec deck alone with him. Believing that Berat couldn't possibly present a threat, he ended up being knocked unconscious by a hologram invisible to the Vorta eye--a hologram controlled by Berat's speech. From there he was put into cold storage aboard the Sherouk, and his Jem'Hadar subordinates killed. (Star Trek: Sigils and Unions--"Let He Who Has Eyes See")
