DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is the complex molecular chain responsible for organic life. It encodes for the proteins that form the cells, hormones, and enzymes that are responsible for the physical structure and inherent anatomical characteristics of an organism.
In 2374, Glen Cory was able to link Jonathan Masters to the death of Ad'mar due to DNA evidence left at the scene. (Star Trek: Swiftfire: "A Rough Time")
