This position in Starfleet is a Flag officer position and is part of Starfleet Command. This position is in charge of all aspects of the Science Division that includes Science officers, Scientists , as well as all other aspects of that division.
This officer also coordinates with the other officers in Starfleet Command in regards to promotions and assignments.
This officer also attends Starship and Starbase commissioning ceremonies.
