The Chesapeake class cruisers were a type of starship on active duty in Starfleet during at least the 2270s. (Star Trek: New Earth)

One ship of this class was the USS Peleliu, commanded by Captain Robert Lake ca. 2275.

A ship of this class was described as having a saucer-shaped main section, an engineering hull and two warp nacelles below the level of the saucer.

From the description, the Chesapeake class was either a variant of the Belknap-class or an alternate timeline counterpart of the Belknap-class.
