Dr. Jefferson Caldwell, one of the Federation's leading xenoendocrinologists, was nominated for the Carrington three times prior to 2362. In 2371, in addition to Wade's nomination, the Federation Medical Council also nominated Healer Senva, Dr. Henri Roget, Chirurgeon Ghee P'Trell and Deep Space 9 chief medical officer Julian Bashir. While Bashir was the youngest nominee in history, Roget won. (DS9: "Prophet Motive")
