The Caracal-class was a type of cruiser starship in service to Starfleet in the late 22nd and early 23rd centuries.

The first nine vessels of the class (CC-750 to CC-758) were ordered for construction by Starfleet Command in 2187, with the prototype USS Caracal being laid down at the Cosmadyne Boston Naval Yards on 28 June that year, with the other vessels following. The following year, six additional vessels (CC-759 to CC-764) were authorized for construction.

Through the early months of 2189 the first batch of Caracal-class were launched. While the first batch were designed and built as command cruisers, later starships in the run were slightly modified to function as heavy cruisers, light cruisers and strike cruisers.

On the technical side, the Caracal-class was designed to carry a complement of 220 personnel. They were also capable of warp factor 6.8 and were equipped with an experimental dual phaser system. (USS Caracal Class Command Cruiser Blueprints)
