Breachingcharge

Starfleet standard issue breaching charge

Starfleet breaching charges are self-contained shaped explosive charge device used for rapid/dynamic entry or exit from a location. In essence the breaching charge is two sarrium-krellide power cells from Starfleet's type two phaser rapidly feeding all of their stored power into a capacitor which allows the power to build up until a detonation occurs. Once activated the time to detonation is typically point five seconds. Due to the shielding 98.75% of the explosive force is directed in one direction and results in little or no back-blast or collateral damage to the surrounding area. On the rear of the unit there is a molecular bonding strip to allow the breaching charge to be adhered to various surfaces. (bfinfobase.org, Bravo Fleet)
