The Betreka Nebula counterstrikes were a series of Federation Alliance counter-offensives against Dominion forces in the Betreka Nebula. The Dominion had used the nebula as a staging area for launching offensives into Klingon territory. The Seventh Fleet was one group of Federation and Klingon warships dispatched to the Betreka Nebula to weaken Dominion holdings there.
First counterstrike[]
As Operation Return commenced, Starfleet Command, believing that the Dominion would divert a large number to the battle for Deep Space 9 dispatched a series of counter-offensives to major battlegrounds. The goal was to slow the Dominion's advance into Klingon territory.
USS Lambda Paz tactical officer Mandel Morrison compared the strategy to that behind Operation Chromite during the Korean War, as Dominion forces had gained a sizable foothold into the border between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Second counterstrike[]
Following the Romulan Star Empire's entry into the war, a second counter-offensive was dispatched to the nebula. Starfleet and Klingon forces were now more determined to force the enemy from the nebula after the Romulans liberated Carraya, H'atoria, and Lambda Hydra, forcing the Dominion to draw a significant number of ships from the Donatu system.
Although only the Seventh Fleet was involved in the first offensive, the Fourth and Fifth Fleets provided additional support for the second engagement. (Star Trek: Lambda Paz: "The Tides of War, Part 1")
