Sometimes, life at Starfleet Academy isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially for command cadet Randy Duke.

Memorable QuotationsEdit

"It was a courageous move, Cadet, to usurp command like that. You moved into the Neutral Zone, you evaded a great number of enemy vessels in what was sure to be a brave attempt to reach that vessel."
"Yes, sir!"
"So what exactly did you think you were accomplishing, other than premeditated mutiny?"
-- Commander del Toro and Cadet Leanne Norrah, discussing the results of the simulation.

"So what? This isn't about studying. Anyone can study their brains out, but it doesn't change the fact that you're not a good captain."
"Not yet."
"Not ever."
-- Cadet Norrah and Cadet Duke.

Background & NotesEdit

  • Original title: "Untitled #15"
  • Inspired by a lack of good Starfleet Academy stories that did not result in people dying, or taking over Earth. The intent with the short was to show a typical day for an atypical command cadet.
  • Cadet Dominic Leone is the son of Captain Krystine Leone, who is featured in the sixth short, Farragut, and the short story series, Star Trek: Full Speed Ahead.
