The arboretum is a botanic garden found onboard several starship classes, including the Constitution-class, Excelsior-class, and Galaxy-class. (TOS: "The Man Trap", "And the Children Shall Lead", "Is There in Truth No Beauty?"; TNG: "Data's Day")

Although the arboretum is considered a recreation area where crewmembers can relax in a natural setting, it is also an area of scientific research. (TNG: "Dark Page", "Night Terrors")

USS Cantabrian[]

Aboard the Cantabrian, the arboretum was located on Deck 14. Captain Noah Wrightson, an avid gardener, cordoned off a section of the arboretum for his own personal use, calling the space the Captain's arboretum. In this space, he grew dahlias and other flowers, as well as manuka, Pōhutukawa and other New Zealand natives. His private arboretum was located on Deck 14, Room 1827. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Catalyst, Part One")

USS Enterprise[]

In 2265, the arboretum on the Enterprise included a zero-gravity anomaly. (TOS novel: Enterprise: The First Adventure)

USS Enterprise-D[]

Civilians were allowed to staff positions in the arboretum. Keiko O'Brien was head of the plant biology lab while she was aboard the ship. (TNG: "Night Terrors") Children such as Clara Sutter were also allowed to help with small projects in the arboretum. (TNG: "Imaginary Friend")

In 2370, the Enterprise arboretum took the place of Lake El-Nar in Lwaxana Troi's mental recreation of the death of her daughter, Kestra, witnessed telepathically by Deanna Troi. (TNG: "Dark Page")

When the entire ship was affected by Barclay's Protomorphosis Syndrome, many of the crew were clustered in the arboretum. (TNG: "Genesis")

USS Mumbai[]

In 2265, the Mumbai has an arboretum that, amongst other things, grows Vulcan p'tah beans, which are used add variety to the ship's menu. (TOSS #6 "Nets")
