Alcohol is a chemical compound. When ingested by humanoids it can have an intoxicating effect and is popular in many cultures.

In an alternate universe encountered by the Stoneship (BC-347) in 2402, alcohol magic could beat, and be beaten by, electrical magic. Black dragons were vulnerable to alcohol magic, although not having any magical affinity to electricity. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "Alcoholic Massacre, Part I")

Alcoholic beveragesEdit

Cultural impactEdit

Ethyl alcohol had no effect on some humanoid races such as the Tarl of Epsilon Indi. Instead, they became intoxicated by orange juice. (TOS novel: World Without End)

Some races, like the Byzatium and humans, indulged on occasion in drinking competitions. One such competition was the Longueuil Cup, which featured events like the beer mile and beer pong. (RIS Bouteina: "Eidolon (Bouteina episode)", "Bottle to Throttle", Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "Alcoholic Massacre, Part II")

Safety in alcohol-drinking competitions was a concern: the FAÉCUM implemented a stringent safety protocol in the 2370s to ensure the safety of University of Montreal students taking part in drinking competitions. (RIS Bouteina: "Redshirt Computer")

Massacre à l'Alcool was a Lyran tabletop role-playing game that featured alcohol as a school of magic. (Star Trek: United Federation of Munchkin Amazons)
