In one permutation of the mirror universe the Terran Empire attempts to use an Iconian gateway to gain an advantage over the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. This backfires, as the planet sends up automated probes that disable the invasion fleet's software. Already weakened by two decades of conflict, the Terran Empire collapses a year later. Revisionist history will portray Spock's reform attempts as responsible for the Empire's downfall. (The Gift)
